Family Pride
The Pierce Country Day Camp, established in 1918, is currently under the third generation of family owner/directorship, with Doug and Forrester Pierce along with their wives Marie and Kathy now at the helm.
"Ours is a labor of love" states Doug, "we proudly follow in the footsteps of our grandparents and parents doing something that we truly love."
Both Doug and Forrester have established themselves as true leaders in the camping industry. Doug has served in numerous leadership positions on the New York State scene having been President of The American Camp Associations NY Section, President of The Long Island Association of Private Schools & Day Camps, and as a longtime board member of The NY State Camp Directors Association. Doug has also been a recipient of the Distinguished National Service Award from The American Camp Association and currently sits on the NY State Governors Safety Council after being appointed by Governor Pataki.
Forrester has also served as President of The long Island Association of Private Schools and Day Camps, and is a frequent speaker annually at the Tri-State Camping Conference.
"It is with a tremendous sense of pride that we carry on this family tradition of camping" states Forrester. "We eagerly await the start of each summer season, and consider it a privilege when parents entrust us with their most precious possessions, their children!"
Doug and Marie have three grown children who are working alongside them and plan on entering the family business.
Forrester and Kathy have three sons, all who attend either Pierce Day Camp or Pierce Camp Birchmont.
