SPORTS
Let’s Play
We at Pierce believe that a sports program should be approached and designed with sensitivity for a camper’s needs and interests. Athletics plays a major role in a child’s physical and emotional growth when encouraged and presented properly. To these goals we at Pierce continually strive.
In the daily task of learning to live successfully, each and every athletic activity in which one engages helps to develop certain positive attributes. Children play because it is FUN! Physical exercise is its own reward. Feelings of pride and accomplishment come from newly found strength, agility and improved skills.
In the final analysis, athletics may be said to be an excellent medium for self expression. The enjoyment of participation is spontaneous and keen, whether it is the youngster paddling in our Aqua Tot pool while learning to swim, or the older camper thoroughly immersed in the skill development of another sport like tennis or soccer. Sports should be FUN!
Our magnificent 27 acre facility boasts meticulously maintained ball fields, courts and program studios. We use only the finest athletic gear and equipment as we offer a carefully planned athletic curriculum to our eager campers.
Every field and every court at Pierce is staffed full time by college graduate “Specialists”. Most all of them are Phys. Ed teachers, certified coaches and parents.
We downplay competition and we stress FUN, while sportsmanship is practiced daily!
10 Point Camper Bill Of Rights:
- The right to participate in a variety of sports.
- The right to participate at a level commensurate with each child’s development.
- The right to have qualified adult leadership and supervision.
- The right to participate in a safe and healthy environment.
- The right to share in the leadership and decision making.
- The right to play as a child, not as an adult.
- The right to proper preparation for participation in sports.
- The right to an equal opportunity to strive for success. (It is necessary to view the meaning of success through the eyes of the child.)

The Pierce athletic program satisfies these ten rights and assures both parents and campers a carefully designed arena for positive overall development.
