Staff Bonus Talk
Again this year, we are advancing some new ways that our staff can increase their salaries here at camp. These increases are merit based. Let us explain some of the ideas we have developed…
EARLY SIGNING BONUS
In an effort to get an early preview of our staff return rates and to determine our upcoming seasonal staffing needs, we are offering a $50.00 "Early Signing Bonus".
The Early Signing Bonus will be paid in the final paycheck of the summer season after the successful completion of your camp contract. Successful completion means honoring the terms of your signed contract, including pre-camp orientation meetings.
NO EXCEPTIONS!
All veteran staff returning from Summer 2005 will have one month from the date their contract is offered to return their signed 2006 contract to qualify for the bonus. Contracts offered at a later date to newcomers will have the due date for this bonus clearly marked on their contract offering.
100% PERFECT ATTENDANCE BONUS
Anyone on staff who has 100% perfect attendance (including orientations) will receive a $50.00 bonus in their final paycheck.
RETURN INCENTIVE BONUS (RIB)
We have decided to place a premium on Pierce Day Camp experienced General Counselors! Those general counselors who were with us last summer will witness a $100.00 to $150.00 increase in their 2006 summer contract offering.
This increase is realized as a combination of three components:
- By being a year older you automatically receive a $50.00 step increase (ie. Fresh to soph, soph to junior…)
- If you return to Pierce you qualify for the $50.00 “RIB” (return incentive bonus).
- If you return your contract early, you will also be eligible for the $50.00 “Early Signing Bonus” too!
REFERRAL INCENTIVE BONUS (RIB2)
We are asking our staff to further assist us in reaching our staffing goals. The single best advertisement is word of mouth! If you refer to us a friend and that person successfully completes the 8 week season with us, we will pay you a $50.00 bonus per referral. Should you refer a Group Leader or Specialty Head who gets hired and successfully completes the season, we will pay a $100.00 “RIB2” bonus. Bonuses will be paid out in your final paycheck.
*NOTE: We will only pay one person per staff referral. On the Pierce job application, question #16 reads“Referred by”. That is the person who we will designate as the bonus recipient.
WEEKLY BONUSES
During the summer, each group supervisor will be given the opportunity to award a $50.00 weekly cash bonus to General Counselors who are both on time and have perfect attendance records that week. These bonus recipients must clearly demonstrate the skills and enthusiasm needed to be a successful general counselor here at camp. We give out approximately 24 weekly bonuses each week
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR BONUS
Rookie of the Year bonuses will be awarded at the end of each summer to three newcomers at Pierce. These $500.00 bonuses are usually offered to new Group Leaders or Specialty Heads.
3 AND 4 YEAR OLD SUPPLEMENTAL BONUS
Due to the fact that General Counselors in these groups are assigned less children (3 or 4 maximum each), we will be granting a $100.00 bonus to each General Counselor who successfully completes the 8 week season as a “supplemental bonus”.
“TAKE PRIDE” BONUS
Three “VIP’s” (Group Leaders, Specialty Heads) will be awarded $500.00 bonuses at the conclusion of the summer. This “Take Pride” Bonus will be awarded to those three individuals who demonstrate extraordinary skills and dedication to the “mission statement” Children First, here at Pierce.
AWESOME FEEDBACK BONUS
At the close of every summer season here at Pierce we receive dozens of cards, letters and phone calls from our camper’s parents with some very kind words of thanks and praise for a job well done.
We certainly enjoy receiving these accolades from our parents and now through this new bonus we can offer our thanks to those of you who are the basis of this Awesome Feedback!
Sooooo, this summer, after the dust settles and we all get to enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that we gave the camp season our very best, we have decided to choose three male and three female staff members who are the subjects of this Awesome Feedback. Each of them will receive a check for $100.00 with our thanks for being an awesome part of another great Pierce summer!

Our intent with all of the bonuses discussed in this flyer is to offer our thanks to those caring individuals who demonstrate a high level of commitment to the children of the Pierce Day Camp. It is our hope to offer these rewards in a non threatening way, void of “politics”. We hope that everyone understands the spirit of this merit based bonus program.
